General Interest

Hi there, my name is Paul Gage. I live in Winnipeg, Canada. My passion is 1/32 and 1/24 Scale Model Car Slot Racing. I hand make urethane slot car tires for racing and competition purposes on routed wood and plastic slot car tracks.

They are available in 4 hardness compounds, "XPG" my newest blend for competition at the extreme level, Extra Soft Shore A30 for smooth wood or plastic tracks, call it a qualifying or sprint tire. Soft SHore A40 Medium perfect if you race on wood and plastic tracks and want a little more durability for longer endurance racing. S50 Hard for 1/24 cars and 1/32 with traction magnets. Select sizes and styles are available in Auction or Buy it Now formats in my store. I don't make every tire for every car, just the most raced RTR's., NSR, Fly, Scalextric, SCX, Carrera, BRM, and AUTOart, to name a few. I will happily develop a tire for specific "club" applications in quantities of 20 pairs.

I'm not one to get into tuning debates, especially about different brands and types of tires. Urethane tires simply eliminate the need for any other type. These tires will need to be trued on the hub using sandpaper, it only takes a minute. In some cases you may want to glue them on the hub, especially plastic hubs. I am now using a clear fingernail hardener polish as an adhesive. Apply to the inner bead of the hub and the outside bead of the tire, mount the tire, rotate once on hub and allow half an hour to dry. If you are adapting a tire and there is a raised or lowered cross section when you mount it, simply sand the tire down when truing it. I also strongly suggest coating the front tire treads with nail polish, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails is the most durable I have found. Urethane tires keep working at some very extreme slip angles and you may want the car to rotate into a slide when you want it to. And, lastly, use a high quality electronic controller such as SCP-01. The rest is just a trick up your sleeve so to speak!

Selecting a tire for your application is usually just a matter of measuring the raised center ridge on the wheel hub. Most common sizes are 2mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm. Simply check the listing description for the available tire size. I usually describe them by diameter X width X ridge width, i.e. 20x12x5mm.  Urethane posseses very elastic properties and will stretch over hubs several milimeters larger. As an example, the 20x12x5 Large Hub tire stretches over the 20mm Carrera Porsche 935/78 hub and needs no glue, simply true it up and go!

And of course, no warranty is expressed or implied. Results may vary from user to user. All sales are final.
